Dell t7810 with quadro m6000 24gb

Hello guys ,

I am having dell t7810 with quadro m2000 at this moment .

Willing to upgrade to  quadro m6000 .

I know that quadro m6000 24gb will be needing two 6 pin female to 8 male adapter

my question is can I use both m2000 and m6000 together ?

‘My power supply 825w.

  • Arup sanyal Let me start off by saying that I have never tested the combo that you are asking about.

However, in the past I've been able to use different Quadro models together as long as they share the same NVIDIA Graphics Driver.

The M2000 and M6000 do share the same NVIDIA Driver.

The 825W Power Supply should be sufficient to power both cards.  The M2000 doesn't require any additional power rails, and the M6000 does require 1 x 8Pin Power.

You can get a dual 6 pin female to 8 pin male adapter for the M6000.

Hi , really appreciate your answer . Will post the update once I get the GPU in my hand

      Many thanks.

  • Hi , Here what happens.

first I got quadro m6000 and used   in one of the PCIE slot , removed the old m2000.

I have two female 6pin to 8 pin male adapter.

after booting and installing driver it worked and showed in device manager also in gpuZ showed m6000 24Gb

next I added m2000 in previous slot and booted , although it took quite a bit time to boot.

In gpuZ it showed two gpu .

after a while when I opened one of my graphics application all of a sudden my monitor display ( two monitor side by side ) went off after little flickering .

I restarted the PC but not booting anymore , the dell power icon showing white light but monitor display not coming .

Next I changed back to original m2000 only , the pc boots normal .

But if I put only m6000, it is not booting ..

    so what’s the issue now?

I also noticed the m6000 fan side have some strange smoking burn smell very faint one ....

Note that this M6000 is used GPU , so I am testing it ...

    • Arup sanyal It sounds like it was working but you may have a defective M6000 Card.  Can you swap out the card with the vendor?

Hi How  can I put two quadro k6000 in dell t7810

‘since I see only two 6pin connector from dell t7810

this two pin is going with single quadro k6000

‘I need another two 6 pin coming from dell t7810 to attach second k6000.

    • Arup sanyal We've never attempted to install 2 x K6000 in a Precision T7810 Workstation.

However, If we did, we probably try this:

      1. Remove any conventional Hard Drives/SSD's that eat up the 2 x 3.5" Drive Slots.  This would open up 2 x SATA Power Connections.

      2.  Install an NVMe M.2 SSD w/Adapter as our boot device in one of the IO Slots.  (you'd have to use the top PCIe x8 Slot

NVME.2 SSD Adapter *Required to Install NVME.2*

      Crucial P1 NVMe M.2 1TB SSD (CT1000P1SSD8)

      3.  Get 2 x SATA Pwr to 6 Pin adapters.  (Power from the HDD Slots)

Sata Power to 6 Pin Male (Order Here)

      4.  Then use the other 2 x 6 Pin from the power distribution board.

I'm not 100% sure if this will be stable under a heavy load, but it's a good place to start.
