P700 > GTX 1080 TI
Hello,
Very happy to run into your p700 gaming video on the web! Was an oasis in the desert of information for this.
I own a computer store in Anacortes, WA. The P700 really, really got my attention when I found how much system it was and could be for a fair price on ebay. So I jumped on one to use as a media machine and possible to resell to gamers as a bargain build.
I then bought a GTX 1080 TI to drop inside.
When it came in I was quite surprised to see the proprietary PSU... We have plenty in stock and couldn't use any of em.
I could see - as many others who read this will see - that we only had 1 x 6 pin available for the GPU.
This was because (as I learned from your video) we have the stock 650w PSU.
So we have 8 pins and nothing to stick in em...
I've seen references on your forum to this adapter https://www.ebay.com/c/1772496398
I am not familiar with where the motherboard side of this plugs in. I do not see a socket for this pin structure on the board. Can you verify this is a good solution and if so, where that plugs in (see attached images)
Also, I have seen a reference on your site to the idea of using SATA power to PSU power using these adapters https://tinyurl.com/sata-to-gpupower. Thos give me 6 pins but of course not helpful in my scenario.
Without regard to the 850w PSU which I know may be needed, which solution do you suggest to tie the existing configuration into that 8 pin female on the GPU.
Thanks.
Jay
