Z800 - X5687 or X5660?

So I bought a Z800 and wanted to upgrade the CPU, it came with two X5660. So I picked up two X5687 thinking I would get a little boost. I started the computer and it told me I need a better cooling system for high performance CPU. I pressed F1 to continue... I then ran Cinebench with the new X5687 and scored significantly lower than my two X5660. I cant figure out why my performance went down? Seems like I should have scored higher, maybe the computer needs a new bios install or am I missing something? PC have 48GB of ddr3 ram, m.2 ssd for faster storage, 512GB of SSD for boot drive and Geforce gtx 1060SC for the video card.

  • it might be that the message you got from the BIOS is correct, the CPUs you chose are 130 W TDP (instead of 95W for the 5660), and so the need the "High Performance" CPU cooler for this WS

so this could be youre issue that the board and BIOS are aware of you having just the regular Cooler and so probably the CPU is crippled by default to prevent it from overheating and burning.
