So I guess the answer is that I don't need a raid config to achieve 12GB/s? Seeing you are using SAS drives....HGST suggests a 60 second shutdown process.…

So, the original Q was: do I need to have a raid config to achieve the 12GB/s or can I just simply plug a SAS drive into SAS0 and get 12GB/s? Thanks.

Read/writes can vary. The manner which people use the 12GB/s is more of a standard also like 6GB/s for Sata. Isn't it the maximum transfer rate of data? Thanks
