Re: HP Z600 V2 X5675 build.
Don't forget that RDIMMs work with these so if you can get your hands on 16GB PC3-10600R (or faster) you can easily have 96GB like I have in mine. I wish I had 32GB modules to try as I believe they…

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon Thank you! I ended up adding a corsair memory cooler and it keeps everything cool. :) I don't think I would have wanted that heat going through the power supply anyways.

Re: HP Z600 Xeon X5690 Installation Epic Fail
@jstorme Interesting. I thought about doing that. I have one of the larger heatsinks versus the stock one and need a stock one instead since my processors are just normal x5650s.…

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon Let me know how the shroud seems to work for the heat. I'd be curious since I never got one.

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon From what I've read it should have clocked down with all the slots full, but I'm glad to see it didn't. :)

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon It could be a problem because any continuous use of memory that uses those modules could overheat and cause system crashes. Better to test and take preventative measures than find out after the…

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon That's awesome! Always great to see so much memory on the z420. :D If it's warm in just normal usage, then a memtest will probably stress it to the point of errors.…

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@David It's hard to break a gpu. I would just check how it was seated. These aren't fragile consumer systems so it shouldn't have broken just like that.

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon Yep, was pretty easy to diagnose the issue. Easy way for you to find out is to run memtest overnight. If it passes that, your current cooling is fine.…

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon It was actually pretty simple. I ran memtest and stressed the memory. When I started getting errors, I was wondering why. I shut off the system and unplugged everything and opened the case and…

@Jon I would check how hot the modules get. I discovered the heat when memtest started having errors and those modules were much hotter than the other ones that had the stock fan.…

Re: HP Z420 Gaming Computer and other Upgrades
@Jon That's a pretty good deal. :) So the clocking down depends on the max ram speed of the processor, not the ram. So for example, my z420 has an e5-2630L which has a max memory speed of 1333Mhz.…

@Jon Yes it will. And this is common for any normal registered ecc ddr3. My servers that take this stuff clock it down too after you have so many modules.
